Natural Bridge Caverns to Celebrate “Christmas at the Caverns” Four Weekends in December With Caroling in the Caverns And New Attractions Christmas Campfire and Santa “Spelunker” Claus

“Christmas at the Caverns” provides unique experiences that celebrate the sights and sounds of Christmas and the natural beauty of the caverns. A portion of ticket sales benefits the San Antonio Food Bank

New Braunfels, Texas (October 31, 2018)   Natural Bridge Caverns will celebrate the 2018 holiday season this December with “Christmas at the Caverns,” which combines the sights and sounds of the holidays with its underground world of natural beauty and amazement.  Now in its fifth year, “Christmas at the Caverns” is a one-of-a-kind Christmas celebration that has become a holiday tradition for families.  Presented the first four weekends in December, “Christmas at the Caverns” this year has added Christmas Campfire and a visit by Santa “Spelunker” Claus.

“We have the incredible sounds of Caroling in the Caverns, along with several other unique holiday attractions, which will be available weekends during December,” said Brad Wuest, Natural Bridge Caverns President and CEO.  “Our awe-inspiring ancient formations provide the perfect backdrop and acoustics for Christmas carols in the Caverns, and our outdoor setting and other attractions lend themselves to family fun for the holidays.”

During this season of giving, “Christmas at the Caverns” continues its support of the San Antonio Food Bank, which serves residents of San Antonio and New Braunfels.  A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Food Bank, and during December each guest who brings a nonperishable food item to donate to the Food Bank will receive $2 off an adult or $1 off a child Cavern tour ticket, redeemable for any Cavern tour.

“Christmas at the Caverns” includes:

Caroling in the Caverns.  Caroling in the Caverns brings the songs of the season to the majestic chambers of the Caverns.  Voices resonate from 180 feet below, and the Caverns fill with the sound of Christmas.  The 80-minute, three-fourth-mile trek combines spectacular natural beauty with incredible sounds.  Choirs and professional singing groups from around the state are featured.  Dates and times are December 1-2, 8-9, and 15-16 from 3 to 5 p.m. and December 22-23 from 2 to 6 p.m.

Santa “Spelunker” Claus.  Santa “Spelunker” Claus is a fan of caving and will be on hand during “Christmas at the Caverns” to visit with kids.  Though it has been a well-kept secret, Santa gets in shape for delivering toys by working out on the Canopy Challenge ropes course and then hitting the Caverns for rappelling and exploring.   His visits to the Caverns have been so successful in building his balance and stamina that he also brings his reindeer to the maze to hone their navigation skills. Visit with him and take photos from 4 to 6 p.m. December 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

Christmas Campfire.  Visitors will gather in this festive new area, decorated in holiday décor and lights, for family fun—games, s’mores, refreshments and photos with Santa “Spelunker” Claus, who is making an appearance for the first time this year.  Visit the Christmas Campfire  beginning at 4 p.m. on Dec. 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

Christmas Hayride.   Nothing puts you in the spirit of the season like a holiday hayride through the hills.  Enjoy scenic vistas of Hill County ranch land decorated in lights during this tractor-pulled hayride available from 6 to 7 p.m. December 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

AMAZEn’ Reindeer Roundup.  Santa’s famous reindeer have been vacationing in the Texas Hill Country, but Santa needs them back for Christmas Eve!  Visitors will take off on an adventure through an intriguing maze, decorated for the holidays, to see who will be the first to find Rudolph and Santa’s other eight reindeer.  Hours for the AMAZEn’ Reindeer Roundup are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and until 8 p.m. on December 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

Natural Bridge Caverns will continue offering daily tours of the largest cavern in Texas with our Discovery Tour and Hidden Passages Tour.
