The CMU Chorale Goes Underground! Step into the extraordinary this fall when the Central Methodist University Chorale presents Fire and Light at Natural Bridge Caverns in San Antonio. The Chorale’s voices will shine, sparkle, and resound amidst the cavern’s glowing rock walls. As Mid Missouri’s premier university vocal ensemble, the CMU Chorale is more than a campus choir—it is a musical force rooted in tradition and excellence. Founded in 1932, it is a mixed undergraduate group open to students of any major by audition. The Chorale gives more than 25 concerts each year and embarks on annual tours that bring their artistry beyond Fayette. They have represented CMU at major events such as the International Methodist General Convention, the National Cathedral in Washington DC, and conventions of the American Choral Directors Association.
Food and Drink (including alcoholic beverages) will be available for purchase in the cavern. We ID everyone for alcoholic beverages. Concert concession stands accept CREDIT CARD ONLY. No outside food or drink will be permitted except water. Restrooms are available in the cavern near The Ballroom.
We are open rain or shine. Events will continue even if it is raining. You may want to bring an umbrella for the trip from your car to the cavern. The cavern is a constant 70 degrees with 99% humidity, so it feels 80-85 degrees. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes with good traction as the trails are steep
ITEMS PROHIBITED: Audio recording devices, chairs, coolers, outside alcohol, outside food or drinks (except water), selfie sticks, tripods, video cameras. High heels are strongly discouraged.
ITEMS ALLOWED: Pocketed personal items like keys and cell phones, purses, small backpacks, items related to childcare, prescribed medications, cameras.
Much of the access to the Caverns depends on the level of mobility for members of your party. Due to the natural formations and restrictive bend of the natural cavern, passageways are not wheelchair accessible. If you anticipate that you will be unable to traverse these paths, please contact us to discuss possible accomodation
Snapshot photography is permitted. Flash photography is permitted as long as you are not photographing wildlife. Due to high humidity, many times a flash will illuminate the water vapor in the air creating a ghosting effect, if you see this, try to limit the use of your flash. Tripods and selfie sticks are not permitted.
Entry & Exit will be via a 710 foot long tunnel. You will walk in and upon exit you have the option of riding up our B.A.T. (belt assisted transport). If you have mobility or balance issues, we recommend walking out of the caverns instead of riding the B.A.T. Got more questions? Check our FAQ page
