Immersive underground experience now accessible to visitors who can’t go below ground

SAN ANTONIO May 4, 2026 — Natural Bridge Caverns has long been one of Texas’s most spectacular underground destinations. Now, for the first time, the experience is open to everyone, including those who’ve never been able to go inside.

Starting May 4th, guests visiting Natural Bridge Caverns who can not go on tour will receive complimentary access to the park’s Virtual Discovery Cavern Tour, an immersive digital experience that puts the grandeur of the Discovery Tour cavern right in the palm of your hand. Complete with narration by Natural Bridge Caverns president and cavern explorer Brad Wuest, the tour brings the 180-million-year-old cave formations to life on any smartphone or tablet – no headset required.

For years, the virtual tour has existed as a behind-the-scenes offering. Making it free and widely available is a deliberate choice rooted in something the Caverns has always believed: this wonder should be available for all to enjoy.

“We know there are guests who come with their families and can’t make the trip underground. Sometimes it’s a health condition, a mobility limitation, or just an honest fear of going into a cave,” said Wuest. “We never want anyone to feel left out of the experience. Now they don’t have to be.”

The virtual experience captures the same sweeping formations — Sherwood Forest, the Castle of the White Giants, the Hall of the Mountain King — that visitors encounter on the guided Discovery Tour. Users can explore at their own pace, zoom into crystal formations, and take in the scale of chambers that stretch more than 100 feet long.

The complimentary access is available to guests upon arrival. No special equipment needed, just a guest’s phone or tablet.

Natural Bridge Caverns is located at 26495 Natural Bridge Caverns Road, San Antonio, Texas 78266. For more information, visit NaturalBridgeCaverns.com.
