Once you’ve had all the fun possible at Natural Bridge Caverns, you’ll probably be asking yourself: “what are other great things to do in San Antonio?”

We are from here, so we are definitely in the know! Here’s a list of our top five things to add to your trip while you’re in the neighborhood:

1.  The San Antonio Zoo – Recognized around the world as one of the top zoos and the top zoo in Texas, the 50+ acre zoo is home to over 750 species, some of which are endangered or extinct in the wild.  Don’t miss the new John & Greli Less Butterfly Rainforest and the meerkats!

2. The Missions: Granted the Alamo is the most famous of the missions, but the incredible beauty and history in every one of the four missions is why they were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the native quarters at Mission San Jose to the 13 miles of flowing historic acequias, each mission has a unique and compelling story to tell.

3. The Mission Reach and Museum Reach of the Riverwalk: Most people are familiar with San Antonio’s iconic Riverwalk, but the expansion to the north and the south will take your breath away. Packed with art, scenic beauty, and serving as a relaxing walkway to the city’s greatest stops, these expansions are well worth the stroll.

4.  Hopscotch: This immersive and interactive art gallery is a must stop with installations from over 40 local, national, and international artists. It’s the place where art comes to play, explore, and expand your idea of what a gallery can be.

5.  Museum Explorer: San Antonio’s museum scene is one of the most expansive you can imagine. From the Briscoe Western Art Museum’s exploration of cowboy culture to The Witte’s natural history deep dives, to the McNay’s fine art collection and sculptures, you’ll find the cultural experience that resonates with you.

6.  Parks, Parks, Parks: If big green open spaces is your thing, San Antonio has what you’re looking for. Don’t miss the Phil Hardberger Park and Robert L. B. Tobin Land Bridge (the largest wildlife crossing in the US). Also plan a visit to Government Canyon State Natural Area – a 12,000-acre wilderness that protects a vast recharge zone for the city.

This is a tiny fraction of all the things to do in San Antonio. We recommend you take a look at Visit San Antonio’s website – but if you get overwhelmed with choices, just start with these six. You won’t be disappointed!
